Looking for a book, a cross between fantasy and science fiction, who had genius who hid his soul on the crest of a wave?
is set in a fantasy / sword and sorcery type of land that was also a post-apocalyptic version of our world – the hero discovers weaponswhich the "old" people have been used (these happen to be the tanks and missiles) demons and geniuses in history hid their souls in unusual places for that his enemies could not find (a hid his soul on the crest of a wave) – thanks for the help, you must be 30 years since I read this as a child.
could be blood of the Gods by Robert E. Howard.

Plant Spirit Shamanism: San Pedro
In shamanic traditions of Northern Peru, the San Pedro cactus (Trichocereus pachanoi), or "cactus of vision ', opens the door to expanded awareness and acts as mediator between man and gods.
San Pedro grows in the dry eastern slopes of the Andes between 2,000 to 3,000 meters above sea level, and commonly reaches six meters or more. It is also grown by local shamans in their herb gardens and has been used Since ancient times, a tradition in Peru that has been uninterrupted for at least 3,000 years.
The first representation of the cactus is a carving that shows a mythological being holding a San Pedro, dating from around 1,300 BC. Comes from the Chavín culture (c. 1.400 to 400 BC) and was found in a temple of Chavin of Huántar, in the northern highlands of Peru. The later Mochica culture (c. 500 AD) also shows the cactus in its iconography, suggesting a continued use during this period. Even in the current mythology of this area Christianized, a legend says that God hid the keys to heaven in a secret place and San Pedro (San Pedro) uses the magical powers of a cactus to find this place for people in the world could share in paradise. The cactus was named after him respect Prometheus his intervention on behalf of mortals.
As you can imagine, the first European missionaries held native practices in considerable contempt and very negative when reporting the use of san pedro. A 16th century Conquistador, for example, described it as a plant in which indigenous people are able to "speak with devil, who answers in certain rocks and other things to worship. "
As well as you can imagine, a shaman's account of the cactus is in radical contrast to this. Juan Navarro, a teacher in the tradition of St. Peter, explains its purpose as follows:
"First, it produces a dreamlike state and great vision, a clearing of all faculties, and a sense of tranquility. Then comes detachment, a sort of visual force inclusive of all the senses including the sixth sense, the sense of telepathic transmission of oneself through time and matter … as a sort of withdrawal of his thought to a distant dimension. "
Regarded as the "master teachers", San Pedro allows the shaman to open a portal between the visible and the invisible world of his people. In fact, his Punku Quechua name, meaning 'door'.
AN INTERVIEW WITH A MASTER OF SAN PEDRO
Juan Navarro was born in the Andean highlands village of Somatic, department of Piura. He is the descendant of a long line of healers working not only to San Pedro, but with the magical powers of the sacred lakes known as The Huaringas, which have been revered for its healing properties since the first civilization of Peru. At the age of eight, Juan made a pilgrimage to Las Huaringas and drank san pedro for the first time. Now in his 50's, every month or so it is still necessary to return there to accumulate the energy it needs to protect and heal his people.
Healing sessions with san pedro involve a complex sequence of processes, including invocation, diagnosis, divination and healing with natural 'power objects, called arts, which are maintained during the ceremony, in a complex matrix and accurate at the altar of the teacher or board.
Arts can include shells, swords, magnets, quartz crystals, objects resembling sexual organs, rocks which spark when struck, and the stones in the stomachs of animals that have ingested to aid digestion. They bring magical qualities to the ceremony where, under the visionary influence of San Pedro, their invisible powers may be seen and experienced.
The teacher's desk, in which these arts feel, is a representation of the forces of nature and the cosmos. Across the table the shaman is able to work with and influence these forces to diagnose and cure diseases.
What happens during a san pedro ceremony?
The power of san pedro works in combination to snuff [see below]. Also the sacred lakes of Las Huaringas are very important. This is where we find the most powerful healing herbs we use to energize our people.
We also use dominio [linking the intention of the power plants] to give strength and protection from supernatural forces such as sorcery and negative thoughts. This domain is also put in the Insurance we do for our patients [amulet bottles filled with perfumes, plants and seeds]. Domain is introduced to the bottle through the breath. Insurance You must maintain your home and your life will go well.
How to help San Pedro in cures that you do?
San Pedro helps the teacher to see what the problem is with the patient before any of this begins the healing. The cactus is a powerful faculty. It has a certain mystery to it and the healer must also be compatible with it. It will not work for everyone but the teacher has a relationship special spirit.
When taken by a patient that circulates in your body and where it is abnormal that allows the shaman to detect it. It lets you know the patient feels pain in his body and where it is. Therefore, the link between the patient and the teacher.
It also purifies the blood of the person who baby and balances the nervous system so people lose their fears and are charged with positive energy.
In the ceremonies I've attended a lot seems to happen. Can you explain the process?
Patients first take a contrachisa. This is a plant [actually, the outer skin of the San Pedro cactus] which causes them to purge [es ie to vomit - the removal of toxins from the body], so get rid of toxins that are spiritual in their systems. This is a cure. Also clean the intestines to make room for San Pedro and so the vision will come.
They also have a sing. This is a liquid snuff [aguardiente and macerated] containing that inhaled through the nostrils. The snuff the leaf is left for two or three months in contact with honey, and when necessary for the Singer is soaked in brandy.
How it works depends on the nostril is used. When taken in the left nostril, release the patient from negative energy, including psychosomatic diseases, body aches or bad influences of other people. As it is necessary to concentrate on the situation's going wrong or the person who is hurting. When is taken through the right nostril is for rehabilitation and energizing for all projects that patient will go well.
Then he can spit the snuff out or swallowed, never mind. The Singer also has a relationship with the san pedro in the body, and intensifies the visionary effects.
During the ceremony chungana also use a [rattle] to invoke the spirits of the dead, either the family or of great shamans, so they can help cure the patient. The chunganas me give charm [ie protection and positive energy] and have a relaxing effect when the patient takes san pedro.
What is the importance of the arts and Las Huaringas?
I use art from the Huaringas, which gives a special energy in everything, including the healing herbs which grow there and nowhere elsewhere.
If you bathe in the lakes takes off her troubles. Bathe with the intention of leaving behind all the negative. People also go there to leave their enemies behind so you can not do more damage.
After bathing, the maestro is cleaned with the arts, swords, sticks, chontas [bamboo used as tools for personal healing or slightly beat "shock" a patient and negativity scrape it], and even huacos [The energetic power of the ancient sites themselves]. Flourish you – spraying you with agua florida [perfume containing healing spirits] and maceration of herbs, and giving you things like honey, so your life will be sweet and blossom.
Not far from Las Huaringas is a place called Sondor, which has its own lakes. This is where black magic is practiced by sorcerers [witch] and where harm in a variety of ways. I know because I am a healer and I should know how to do magic for me to defend myself and my patients.
As I said, much that happens in a cure! So with all this, the important thing is San Pedro?
What allows me to read [diagnosis] ie a patient is the power of San Pedro and snuff. The perceptions come to me through any of my senses or through awareness of what the patient feels, weakness, pain or whatever. Sometimes, for example, a bad taste in the mouth may indicate that the patient has a bad liver.
Of course, you must also take the San Pedro and snuff, to protect the patient's negativity and illness, and because it provides the vision.
