How many points are lost in the stock market crash of 1929?
Also, how much wealth was lost in terms of money during the collision? Can someone explain what the stock is overvalued? The stock market is very confusing to me, but I think it is good to invest. Any help would be great. I get conflicting information. Online, I read that 16 billion dollars were lost, but what you said contradicts this. Me too I read that you lost more than 500 points.
In 1929, the high the Dow Jones Industrial Average stood at 380.33. By the time of the crash bottomed out in 1932 the average was 42.84. But we must realize that the Dow became the main populations. The average fall of the average stock was much, much more. Many declared bankruptcy and, of course, investors lost everything they have invested in them. Heck, I doubt anyone knows for sure how much money was lost during the collision directly from the accident. One thing to be aware that a dollar at that time was not the same as a dollar today. A dollar was worth then about a place in the neighborhood of $ 50.00 today, Mabe more. The most expensive hotel room in New York, then the cost of $ 5.00. What is today about $ 500 or $ 1000. Because liberal margin requirements in the first week of the accident lost most of the speculators all. As for being wise to invest. I agree with that statement. But one has to be something rational on investment. First part of an investment policy of the people must have a reservation at cash on hand for when the market takes one of its periodic% 25 to 35% revaluation. Second, when the market has a place somewhat protracted, which is a time to bank some of the benefits – add to cash reserves. overvaluation of stocks is when the average PE of the average stock rises far above the norm. I think the current average of S & P 500 is about 17. At times it has been more than 25, and sometimes even more. In other cases has been below 10. When below 10, stocks are cheap. When you are over 20 stocks are very expensive.
