What are your thoughts on "The Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett?
I'm almost half way through it and can not find almost as good as people say. I find writing very basic and not very rewarding. I'd say it's a good story, but not a good piece of literature.
I thought it was a good read. The only thing I could have done without is all the description of the construction of the cathedral. In my opinion, boring party, but the writing about the characters and interactions that was great. I just found the sequel, "A World Without End", and I found that to be a good read too. I guess it depends on what you like.
