Patara Beach
People all over the world come to Kalkan, Turkey to visit the beautiful beach of Patara. The secluded beach is ideal for those looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and simply relax and unwind in the environment peaceful. The blue waters are the perfect temperature for a swim, despite being careful not to look out for loggerhead turtles that make their home in this national park. The beach is closed after sunset to make peace in which turtles lay their eggs, so make sure you get early. Though Patara is the second beach Turtle nesting Turkey's most important, his claim a little more unusual to fame is the fact that it is the original home of Saint Nicholas, better known as Santa Claus.
Ruins Guys
You guys are just a short drive away from Kalkan, Turkey, and was considered one of the most important religious centers during the period of Lycia. It was the home of the winged horse Pegasus and the mythological hero Bellerophon. Uncles dates back to 2000 BC and wander through the remains youll see a spectacular amphitheater and the remains of an old Ottoman castle. However, the rock tombs are considered particularly well-preserved remains. The largest tomb is dedicated to Bellerophon, the greatest hero and murderer of monsters. Greek mythology tells us how Bellerophon killed the Chimera, a monster with lion's head, a body of goats and a snake tail. You can visit the eternal fire of the Chimera in Kalkan, Turkey and see the place where the myth of the Chimera begun.
Kastellorizo
From being the envy of all your friends and spend a day in Kalkan Greek Island hopping. The small island of Kastellorizo, or Meis, Greece is the easternmost island and can be easily visited on a boat trip from Kalkan, Turkey. The small island has a population of just over 200, but this does leave it served by Olympic Airways. The port area has a charming collection of shops and restaurants facing the sea and is recommended to leave for a traditional Greek food. As you can imagine, seafood is much the daily menu.
El Castillo de los Caballeros offers stunning views across the Mediterranean to the Turkish town of Kas, and its well worth the short climb to the viewpoint entails.Kastellorizo is also known for its beautiful churches and many of them are named after St. George. You may want to spend a lazy afternoon stroll around and admire them neatly painted frescoes. However, before returning to Kalkan, you may want to make a stop at the duty free shop, where alcohol and perfume is much cheaper than on the mainland.
