The games can be addictive – But obsession is something else.
The following article is aimed at parents of a teenager who may be obsessed with video and / or computer games. While some of our other items that may sound as though we encourage obsession, we share a concern for teens they tend to flee to other interests in life for gambling activities to the point where they withdraw from society. We never encourage such behavior, and we therefore taken time to describe some of the signs of game obsession and some tips on how to deal with it.
Recognizing the signs of obsession adolescent gambling is not as easy as you think. It always begins like the first, an interest, and then begins to grow in an addendum. The problem with the identification initial stages of game obsession begins with adolescence. At the moment our children are 15 and over who have learned some fairly technical discussion impressive. So when we question their motivations for repetitive play, they may distort our concerns with logic and even make it a point to question from our mistakes as parents.
Since no parent really wants to admit a mistake, sometimes it can collapse and convince ourselves that maybe 4 hours in front of a video game is not so bad. After all, we spend so much time on the computer, phone, or transmission of data back and forth between palms of our hands, Blackberries, and mobile phones from Cingular.
Be careful not to fall into the logic teenager. Video games can be addictive and if the time spent play with them not carefully monitored, will consume everything that a teenager used to worry about.
At the time that counts your child's grades are falling, missing homework or social life begins to leave, cut that time in the ball game. If you wait too late to restrict the playing time, you may experience pre-adult temper tantrums unprepared to handle correctly (insults, breaking things, stealing, running away from home, etc..) At this point, the child is obsessed and will do thing to get your hands on a gaming device.
Another sign of obsession is a behavioral change. A boy obsessed with the games you lose patience with things and with others, be quick to anger, and react to situations without considering the consequences. If you paid attention to video and / or computer games, you realize that require this type of behavior to gain or to advance to a higher level.
Sadly, a teenager obsessed with these games violence is literally being trained to react in the manner described above. That's why it is pertinent that as an adult, restricting access to such entertainment and replace it with activities that slow thinking (such as art, music, theater, etc.) and expose their children to other violent pleasures (swimming, dancing, skating, etc.).
There are a lot of debates circulating around about the impact that video games have on the youth of today and some of them could justify paying more attention. As a parent of a teenager, you'll do well with your child's desire to "get his game" to maintain close surveillance unwanted changes.
