Every day for the last year or more who have heard or read the bad news. Unfortunately, we've all seen this recession hit our own families and / or those we love. I've had friends lose their jobs, losing their homes and what is more sad for me is when I've seen the effects of recession steal their spirit. It made everyone in this country take a step back and reflect on what is really important in life and what we teach our children.

I, myself, like to indulge. I like doing many things in a big way, at the top, the sky the limit, and still do. However, I come from a new angle nowadays. I'm doing all the things I have said, clipping coupons, eating less, brown paper bag, turning off lights, change light bulbs, recycle, share travel, rent movies instead of seeing in the theater, check out books from the library instead of buying, set budgets, make more of our gifts … Yes, I do all. But I still want to have fun. I still want my children to see life as exciting, full of joy, laughter, lots of friends and family, parties and whatever you want. Let's face it, spending much less money you can put a stop to these things, BUT DO NOT HAVE TO.

Here is my battle – Christmas! Of course I want to give my children many of the items on its list. What parent does not? I want my children to think about this Christmas, as one in which they received everything they wanted. Here's the thing – I want to cut, but I do not feel that I cut. I really think that is possible if creative me. I've given a lot of thought and here is my plan.

1. Make up great adventures of my Elfingen Around the elves. I already have a few tricks up its sleeve, how to fill the bed of children with wrapped candy, with the elves in baking session while sliding down the stairs covered with extra batting, and elves to bring the children their Christmas pj's (which I bought on clearance last year). The elves make Christmas so magical you really do not have to do much more. They were the # 1 best investments in my journey to make Christmas special without spending a fortune. Honestly, every family should have one or two of these sprites!

2. Decorate a tree with gift cards, dollar bills and vouchers for my teenager. This will be a great success. I am enclosing each item in a small box and hang This never before seen in the trees. It was going to take time to develop their $ 10 iTunes cards, movie tickets, dollar bills, etc. Let's face it — Adolescents are difficult to purchase. All they want is money or big ticket items. This tree will be unique, appreciated and unexpected. Those are the three adjectives that always looks in a gift. There is nothing worse than spending the day at the mall for the perfect gift and having to change the day after Christmas.

3. I love doing things for my children and this year will be great faux fur blankets. I've seen these blankets are sold in boutique stores $ 300. Are they crazy? I can do exactly the same as the blanket (I'm not kidding – the exact same blanket) for a fraction of the cost. I'm going to wrap a large box, then wrap your favorite DVD go on top of the large box and then attach a movie-sized boxes of candy on top. I'll hot glue popcorn throughout the top of the big box just for fun. Very creative if I say so!

I am a member 4. Snapfish and quite often they send me e-coupons for books Free Gallery. I've never done before, but I'll try it! I think memories are incredible, especially because they are created with love. Do not forget that the key word – FREE!

5. I also orchestrating a different kind of gift exchange with my extended family. Instead of cutting the gift of each person, we will have to carry all several gifts worth $ 10 each. Everyone will spend a total of $ 30. Let's play a fast-paced game of dice that end everyone involved, committed, excited and looking forward to playing again. Last year my children won $ 10 in coupons for ice cream, iTunes cards, special lotions, gift cards from Starbucks, a cube Rubik, movie tickets and popcorn in a plastic tub. Everyone spent less money, had more fun and went home with gifts that actually could use.
