Can anyone explain the original call in the history of Cthulhu by HP Lovecraft in detail?

As you know, the original short story "The Call of Cthulhu "is available for free as an electronic book in many places. I read through the pages of sixteen or well, re-read here and there, I have a bit of an idea of what is happening, but since the text is not what I'm used to, not exactly get the whole story. Could someone explain to me?

Edited by JT Joshi, "The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories" offers an excellent, including academics, introduction to the stories of HP Lovecraft. For those readers like me who are relatively new to Lovecraft, this collection offers a broad brush look good on some of learn more about their work. At the same time, the extensive commentary and noting standing means that even long time fans should find something new in this collection. For totally unfamiliar with Lovecraft, this collection serves the additional purpose of explaining why one should read this enigmatic author. In short, the merit of Lovecraft lies less in the ideas behind their stories as actual implementation. In fact, many would argue (with some merit) that Lovecraft was not much of an author. Used words usually too many to make their point, a mistake compounded by their tendency to recur, and many plot lines borders on satire itself. Nevertheless, is revered because it reshaped the face of modern horror / fantasy. You remove the man from the focal point of all the previous stories, and finds the horror in our insignificance. It creates a mythology (perhaps best personified by Cthulhu), as beings much larger and more powerful than humans have lived and fought for eons untold. It is his complete indifference and caprice of humanity that inspires terror. At their best, Lovecraft captures this fear of the unknown or unfathomable with an air of menace palpable. Through the organization of the stories found in this collection in chronological order, Joshi allows the reader to see the growth of Lovecraft as a writer, something makes the final five innings all the more impressive. "Call of Cthulhu," "The Color Out of Space" "He who Whisperer in Darkness, "" The Shadow Over Innsmouth "and" The Haunter of the Dark "in all its beauty to capture the depth of imagination of Lovecraft. Referring to things a little beyond human knowledge, mocks the reader dark mysteries and an increasing level of paranoia in the unknown, seemingly mundane. By Thus, the breadth of his imagination overcomes his limitations as a writer. Like any collection, especially one that covers a significant period of writer development, "The Call of Cthulhu" is a mixture. However, no more entries than have to look over your shoulder. Moreover, given the influence of Lovecraft in authors as Stephen King, not to mention emerging talents like China Mieville, it is interesting to explore their stories and consider their long-term impact. In many ways, is like listening to Muddy Waters, to understand the Rolling Stones and the Beatles. Finally, notes editor ST Joshi fascinating place to help both the author and his writings within a broader context wide.

Horror writer HP Lovecraft created his own fictional world full of creatures and beings that he often references his work. He seemed to have created a myth completely formed, with a hierarchy of these creatures, and a loose backstory and myth of the creation of many of them too. There are many creatures in their myth with some doing frequent appearances and some of the most popular was mentioned only briefly, but with little description of what his role or place in the hierarchy and the world history. Here is a list of the three creatures of fiction HP Lovecraft.

Azathoth

This often-mentioned but seldom seen Outer God, Azathoth is often mentioned as a resident in the center of the universe and is said to be "blind and insane." Sometimes said to be the "leader," Azathoth is known as chaos personified and a god GLIPS take them crazy. Some artists have developed and art easel Azathoth display a mass of chaos with no real body tentacles swarm or form. Azathoth is one of the most bizarre and frightening creatures Lovecraft myths.

Dagon

One of the least creative of the monsters of Lovecraft, and he who has the closest relationship with the current cult a deity in Middle East history, Dagon is the god of the sea, and the leader of the Deep, a race of half man, half fish creatures. The image and the idea of a snake, fish-like or dragon-like creature in the sea known as Dagon has existed since primitive man, with reported Semitic peoples who worship a god with the same name Lovecraft Dagon using the more interesting in their mythology.

Shoggoth

These horrible, strange creatures, described by Lovecraft as "terrible, indescribable something [s] vaster than any subway train … formless conglomerate bubble of protoplasm fainly self-luminous, and with thousands of temporary eyes … "They make an appearance in the famous novel by Lovecraft" At the Mountains of Madness ", where the unit of cave explorers and things Elder are revealed to be very old "worker bee like creatures" created by the things that seniors to build their cities under water. They are hostile, feared and one of Lovecraft best monster creations.
