Suppose you have silver hair. The natural assumption of people who live and work with it that are of an age when the hair begins to lose its color. If your hair turned gray before you were 20 or 30 years old, could be a deficiency in the diet, health concerns – or genetics.

A black Labrador retriever, silver factor with a coat that is slightly less than black, is claimed by some as a purebred dog. Supposedly rare and highly desirable, a Labrador Retriever black with silver, as factors that may be offered at a price higher than normal. "They deserve this? Or is it simply a crossing – a mestizo?

Black Labrador Retriever Standard

Consider these facts.

1. In the Labrador Retriever, a dominant gene will always determine what color the coat. Always. No matter what other genes are present. The black gene, which call "B" for short, is dominant. Therefore, if a "B" gene is present, the pre-selected coat color is black. But read on.

2. Let's call the recessive chocolate gene "b" for short. The "B" genes can only produce a layer of chocolate, if the dog is not inherited "B" gene. Those are the only options, "B" key genes and black "b" chocolate recessive genes. There is no silver yellow gene, or other colors. A Labrador Retriever black, silver or other factor factor would have to go against this genetic makeup.
