Now that you've taken inventory of all the debt that you currently have, it's time to do something about the amount of bad debt you have. Probably had some fun go into debt, and took his time building massive portfolio of outstanding and unfortunately out of debt is not so nice! You however, begin to feel a huge weight off his shoulders, and start to create a plan to take over the debt monster once and for all, so let's get started!
Lesson Two: Credit Card Debt Elimination
Facilitating anxiety of debt is just around the corner, so close the debt monster is groaning in despair!
Take your "bad" debt list of lesson one. It's time to play with the credit card companies!
Lower interest if your air
One by one, call each credit card issuer and try to obtain lower interest payment. People who have a history of making timely payments in the past have a success rate in this task, but it never hurts to try and you may be surprised how much you can save just by asking!
This is what you might say when you call your credit card account:
You: I just got an offer of credit card in the mail that says I can transfer my balance 5% interest. Your service has been very good and do not want to switch credit cards, but despite that I've been using this card for 4 years, I'm still paying 18% interest. I have to change cards to save some money unless decide to lower the interest rate.
Credit card company will give you some tricks on the share may be the rate, and perhaps put on hold for a while, and to review your payment history. When ready to talk to you again, you could go with something like this:
You: It may be a reasonable rate, or 18% may be the price, but as this credit card is offering me 5.9%, I pay much less by transferring the balance my for themselves. Need to reduce my interest rate at least 10%.
The credit card company, will probably put on hold while the representative of the controls with your supervisor or whoever is in charge of the mysterious and mystical world of credit card companies, behind the scenes. You can only go back and say that it can fall to 12% or some other number that is greater than what you asked, but less than what had been paying. Accept the new rate and hold (but do not spend much of their conclusion or have wasted your time!)
Development of a plan of attack
You can not expect to bury the debt monster without a solid plan of action because it is a very strong creature that steals Terminator's famous phrase, the "I'll be back", and back of the debt will be completely if you do not have a plan.
In a new sheet of paper or a new worksheet, rewrite the list so that the accounts that have the highest interest rate are at the top of the list, with lower interest accounts at the bottom. This is the order in which the accounts should be be paid, in general. The reason why it is better to pay the higher interest accounts first because less of your payment goes towards the principal amount due.
